University tuition in Guangdong will be more expensive this upcoming year. South China University of Technology recently announced that its tuition fees would increase by up to 1,690 RMB.

A spokesperson from the university said on Friday that the changes will only affect incoming freshman, and not students that are already enrolled in the university.

The Guangdong provincial government recently issued a statement that said that in fall 2016, tuition for public universities will increase by 20.2%.

Tuition for PhDs and undergraduate in the liberal arts will be adjusted to 5,510 RMB. Tuition for science and engineering, foreign language, and sports professional degrees will pay 6,230 RMB.
