6-Year-Old Finds 18K at School, Father Refuses to Admit She Brought it Home

A woman left a bag of cash at a Jiangsu primary school where it was accidentally picked up by a young girl. The young girl brought it home to her father who let the case go to court rather than return it.

In November of last year, a woman named Zhao lost a bag containing 18,000 RMB. She had taken out the money to pay the decorator who had recently redone her home. Zhao stopped to pick up her child at primary school and accidentally put down the bag.

Zhao recalled that she had been carrying the bag of cash under her arm, but may have dropped it as she took her child’s backpack. When she returned home, she noticed the bag was gone and called the police. The next day, she returned to the school to look for clues. A teacher at the school helped her ask the students if they had seen anything. Several children said that they had seen a 6 year old girl named Tiantian pick up the package.

Zhao found Tiantian and asked her about the package. The young girl admitted that she had picked up a package at school that day and brought it home to her father. Knowing that there was no real evidence, Zhao recorded her conversation with the young girl.

However, Tiantian’s father denied that his daughter had brought him a bag of cash. Zhao tried to confront her father, Zhou, to his face, but he continued to deny his daughter’s story. Feeling helpless, Zhao took Zhou to court. After two hearings, Zhou was found guilty by a Tongshan, Xuzhou court and ordered to return Zhao’s 18,000 RMB.

Haha. Have you ever lived in China. For if you have it, it's yours until proven otherwise. I doubt that father ever even thought about returning it.

So much weird stuff in this story... Accidently dropped a bag? Didn't notice you lost a big bag until you are home? Someone ACCIDENTLY picked the bag up? Now Chinese start to interrogate children on their own and record the conversation. Of course the court is fine with this because no one can force someone to say what they want. Good enough that the woman + the decorator most likely did some big tax evasion here but of course no one investigated that either. Some serious legit police work going on.
