Auchan Supermarkets in Russia to Replace Turkish Imports with Chinese
Dec 03, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a new decree prohibiting a number of imports from Turkey starting January 1, 2016. Auchan supermarket in Russia will substitute imports from Turkey with those from China and other nations.

The decree was signed on November 30 in order to protect “the national security and national interests of the Russian Federation,” and protect citizens “from criminal and other illegal activity.” The decree comes after the downing of a Russian bomber jet by Turkey.

The new law bans the following imports from Turkey: agriculture produce and raw food products including oranges, grapes, apples, pears, apricots, peaches, plums, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, onions, frozen turkey, chicken, carnations, and salt.

Maria Kurnsova, spokesperson for the French supermarket giant Auchan, who has a number of stores in Russia, said that the company will import similar products from China, Morocco, and Tajikistan to replace the products from Turkey. Kurnsova said that Auchan has already been working to secure alternatives to Turkish goods.

Being Russia I support this decision! Better to have products from "friends" than from backstabbers.

Haha, no backstabbers among the Mainlanders, that's for sure. They have zero experience with that.

Being backstabbed and cheated is not the same. I guess if you had a little bit more wisdom you would not be cheated all the time.

The conquest is going great, thank you. How about yourself? Having such strong leader is beneficial, at least he has balls to speak out. Yep, this hell is not for weak people.

Chinese do both. They spent a decade selling each other down the river for minor advancements. If you had wisdom, you would not deal with such people. Myself, I left China. No problems with cheaters out of that shithole.

Well, now that you put it that way, maybe eating metal-laden Chinese produce is their way of avoiding the slow death.

Good idea. Nothing helps a country's national security like feeding the populace a steady diet of heavy metals and fake foods.

I foresee lots of those products wrapped in lots of plastic. Not so many tinned goods. Why are Chinese supermarkets like this?
