A 14-year-old boy lied about visiting his grandmother to rack up a 15,559 RMB fine at a sauna. When asked why he did it, he said to ‘get revenge’ on his father.
Xiao Lin told his father and stepmother several days before that he wanted to visit his grandmother for a few days. Not thinking that this was particularly unusual, they both agreed and didn’t question it. 4 days later, his stepmother, Zou, received a phone call asking her to pick Xiao Lin up from a sauna.
When asked what he was doing there, Xiao Lin replied that his friend had found a wallet. Zou didn’t believe him and hung up, believing he was playing some kind of prank.
She also believed that he was lying when he called his father later that night to say that he’d been arrested.
After he still hadn’t appeared a day later, Zou went to the sauna to ask if anyone had been arrested there. The staff member denied it, but she went into the cloakroom and spied Xiao Lin’s shoes. She then went back to enquire and learned that Xiao Lin had spent 15,559 RMB on 27 massages, 12 foot massages, 10 baths, 21 lucky draw tickets, 51 bottles of booze and 27 packets of cigarettes.
The family is now in a legal battle with the sauna as they believe they shouldn’t haven’t sold so many services to a minor; the sauna has countered saying that Xiao Lin is over 1.7 meters tall and looks like an adult.

51 bottles of booze? What could he have done with them? Most Chinese can't finish more than 2 watery beers without getting tipsy.

Nice to see the establishment would provide a 14 year-old with 51 bottles of booze and 27 packets of cigarettes. Hooray for responsibility!
