Cities Ease Anti-Pollution Measures as APEC Ends

All that’s good has to come to an end – including the APEC blue skies, as the Shenzhen Daily has reported that anti-pollution measures are loosening up throughout Northern China’s cities.

In Shijiazhuang, the ban on factories and automobiles has been lifted, as was the case in Tianjin. In Beijing, construction work and traffic controls were also ended, as the local government announced that winds reached Beijing and were able to blow away pollutants.

There are already some signs of what the temporary halt in production may mean, as Hebei closed down 4,000 factories and is already reporting electricity shortages at the start of the winter season.
