Super Stingy Residential Building in Jining Charges Residents for Using Elevator
May 22, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A particularly miserly building management organization decided to charge its residents for the privilege of using the elevator in their building. Their reasoning: people were taking it too frequently and they wanted to discourage it.

The building management team was having too much trouble with elevator repairs so they decided to install a card swiping system that charged every time a resident used it. Furthermore, the costs are staggered, so residents on higher floors who actually have the most need of the elevators, are penalized with higher prices.

Disabled resident Fang lives on the 15th floor and has been climbing the stairs to avoid the fine. He has calculated that it will cost him 500 RMB a year just to ride the elevator.

At 1.5 jiao per ride, the fees aren’t extortionate, but it’s surely more a matter of principle.

That disable man who climbs up and down the stairs of the 15 floors might slightly be exaggerating somehow. 500rmb per year would be 9-10 elevator rides per day every single based on 1.5jiao per ride.

oh,Yes. I agree with you that the people who use it pay for the running costs.yet i hold that the problem in this news is that residents isn't satisfied with charge standard rather than they don't to pay the management fees.perhaps they can't accept the create way as they need to pay more money than before.the property management company should to communicate with residents to reach a consensus. and i am curious bout how it works. heihei !
