Ten Tigers Killed in Guangdong; Meat Sold for 500 RMB Per Pound

The plight of tigers have been well documented around the world, but apparently not enough in China where horror stories of tiger slaying surface on a frequent basis.

The latest scandal to emerge surrounds a revelation that ten tigers have been killed in recent years in Leizhou, Guangdong Province. And what’s even more disheartening is the admission that tiger slaying in Leizhou has been a well-known fact for many years. According to reports, the tigers were locked up in cages by illegal gangs and then electrocuted to death. An experienced cattle butcher would usually be present and immediately proceed with handling the carcass. These butchers would allegedly earn 1,000 RMB a pop for helping to slaughter the tigers.

The illegal slaughter of tigers has been going on in Leizhou for many years but was allowed to continue unhindered due to the lucrative profits such a killing generated. According to an unnamed insider, tiger bones can bring in as much as 7,000 RMB per pound while the meat and tiger bone alcohol fetch an average of 500 RMB per pound. The tigers killed in Leizhou are said to have been adults weighing between 300-400 pounds and were bought by illegal gangs for 20-30,000 RMB.

All animals and human beings are god's children. They are supposed to coexist harmoniously on the beautiful planet. The bad guys who deprive the living right of animals shall be brought to justice and their costs for exacting the atrocities will be mountain high to stop such felonies from happening. People, look at what you've done to the wild animals ! You're destroying the priceless assets bequeathed by our planet in billions of years! You shortsighted and stupid bastards.

Tiger penis soup, crushed Rhino horn, sharks fin soup. Any endangered animal will do. You see so many Chinese men are impotent, they need these things to get it up.

All wild animals have a right to live on this earth as we do. We only eat domesticated animals that are bred for this very purpose. The killing of wild animals especially endangered ones brings no joy to our future generations. I'm not sure how we can teach children about tigers, whales and polar bears when all we could show are pictures. Where I come from, if you are caught with endangered animals, the jail term is no less than 7 years plus a fine of more than 50,000. Fines of 500,000 for such offenses are not uncommon. However, such cases are very rare because the deterrent is enough to put anyone off committing such crimes. I think China should impose heftier penalties to stop killing such beautiful and endangered animals.
