Lenovo Inherits Half Empty IBM Factory as Half of Staff Quit
Mar 14, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Last week over 1,000 workers at IBM’s Shenzhen factory went on strike, after it was announced that Lenovo was taking over the factory and IBM x86 server department, and that the workers could either stay on with Lenovo under the current terms or accept a severance package.

The incident escalated when IBM fired as many as 20 people who objected to the terms of their transfer. This action was then followed by around half the workers at the factory resigning and taking their severance package.

Lenovo has declined to comment saying that it is, “an internal matter for IBM.”
