Two Americans Cyclists Reach the End of the Road in Shanghai

Two Americans Cyclists Reach the End of the Road in Shanghai
Dec 25, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Morgan and Chris set off from Paris in March 2012, and at 18:00 on December 12 reached Shanghai’s Chenyi square. En route they have travelled throughout China, from Xinjiang to Yunnan, to Guangxi and Guangdong among others.

They met when they were 14 and decided to do this trip as a way to improve their writing and see the world. In addition to the many blog posts on their website postulateone, they have written for the Atlantic, Forbes and National Public Radio.

Having made us all feel lazy, they can now have a long sleep.

there are lit. thousands of foreigners who take trips from europe to X city in china on a yearly basis... some just have more marketing behind them than others. most just don't blog it - they don't have blogs. cycle some of the hub routes yourself and be amazed.

I think this is the kind of safe news story that Chinese are willing to hear about western countries. The black & white photo was probably made in preparation for it to be put on some sort of display, detailing the unthreatening, stuffy achievements China likes to portray the west with. Maybe the cyclists' stories give an appealing portrayal of Chinese countryside too. It's taking the expression "middle of the road" to a whole new level!

LOL! you even turn a story about accomplishing a bike trip into a conspiracy of propaganda. Wow!

Hardly a conspiracy. It's just catering to Chinese pride in their cultural superiority, which I do criticize. I like Samasara's blog in this regards. To quote: "Suggesting that Western Europe achieved more during the Renaissance than China did in its entire “5000 years of history” will meet with a blank stare. After all, it’s not about what China achieved during that time – It’s about the length. We’d better consult Freud on that one. Suggesting that Egypt’s history is longer, or Iran’s civilizations older – or that due to geographical isolation, Aboriginal Australian culture existed unchanged for tens of thousands of years – will meet with a similarly vacant expression or a subtle but perceptible drop in friendliness and receptivity."
