Love is a wonderful feeling that everyone should have, but have you ever known what it tastes like? Apparently it tastes like chicken, if doves are any indication.
On November 13 on the south shore of Swan Lake in the city of Hefei, Anhui province, several couples were getting ready to take the plunge into marital bliss. In order to make wedding pictures stand out from the ordinary, the couples had purchased nearly a hundred white doves to be released live during the picture taking.
But as fast as the flash was, some unscrupulous Hefei residents were even faster. As soon as the doves were released, they were immediately snatched up by city residents until all that remained were a few birds. When asked why he would do such a thing at an occasion for love and harmony, one city resident explained, “This is an edible dove; it can be eaten."
Wedding photographers may want to begin asking their models to not instigate these types of frenzied looting by calling out food terms like “Cheese!” when taking a picture.

Hah, Chinese are not easily appalled by their countrymen's behaviour. It takes quite a lot for them to even object to such a thing. Destroying a wedding moment, and essentially stealing their property right in front of them did the trick. "It can be eaten." Wow. Glad I'm protected by human rights here - as unoriginal as most Chinese are, they probably figured out that foreigners can be eaten too. There were problems with Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants in the Netherlands, hunting ducks in city ponds like they were wild animals. I mean the ducks were the wild animals. The hunters are clearly well-behaved, civilized animals, oblivious to what they are doing wrong.

I bet most of those who took birds have more than enough money to buy food. Unlike the BJ metro, this really is acting like locusts

The people who sold those doves are probably fuming mad as well. They [sellers] expect these same doves to return so that they can be resold again.

Good old Hefei, you never change, true to yourself :D I remember a Chinese friend back in good old Europe. We walked in a public park, and my friend was awed to see so much swans, ducks and geese. Asking why such awe for this, my friend told me "In China, they would have eaten them since long. People don't eat those animals here ?". Me "Well, they even are a speciality of the local culinary tradition, much recipes to cook them. But nobody would even seriously consider eating public park animals >_<". China, an other planet.
