According to the latest statistics on the foreign population in Guangzhou, it is reported that there were 34,000 permanent residents from outside China living in Guangzhou in June, 2012. The majority of these foreign residents came from Japan, South Korea, the US, Canada and India. A further one million temporary residents were also recorded in the city.
Of the permanent residents recorded in Guangzhou, 5000 were Japanese and mainly lived in northern parts of Tianhe District and on Baiyun Avenue; 3300 of these permanent residents were from South Korea and mainly resided in the Tangjing area of Baiyun District, northern Tianhe District, Panyu, Zhujiang New Town and eastern Binjiang; and 2800 of these were American who were most concentrated in northern Tianhe District, Zhujiang New Town, Ersha Island and in the areas around Huanshi Road.

Rubbish, no-one 'permanently' resides in China. We are all here on sufference until we wise up and go home/somewhere else or get kicked out.

Yeah, no way this story is even remotely true. If 30,000 people had permanent residency here ,we'd all know about it.
