On July 26th, the work group responsible for handling the "7-23" railway accident reported that the compensation for each deceased passenger has been decided. Their compensation will be based on the provisions of the "Regulations for railway accident emergency rescue and investigation handling" and "Regulations for railways accidents and passengers compulsory insurance". In regards to this situation, the standard accident compensation, a one-time earmarked help fund, as well as the funds collected from donations add up to a total of 500,000 RMB per affected family.
On the evening of July 23rd, the Beijing-Fuzhou D301 train, while on its way to Wenzhou rear-ended the D3115 train headed from Hangzhou to Fuzhou. At present, 39 people are reported dead.

500,000 RMB...How do they get that figure? Is that the going rate for ahuman life these days, a pathetic 50,000 Pounds where i come from. Whilst somebody is sure to say "But that's a lot in China" No monetary value can ever be placed on the loss of life, through accidental death or Natural Causes. I read somewhere earlier this week, that one of the victims families had already agreed and recieved a pay off....DEAD, BURIED, PAID....Strange world we live in.
