Yep, I get it. I'm British with a 4 yr old girl and a two month old boy. We'll be going back the year after next, but, in the mean time, I know your pain. I'm in Hebei and there are terrible people here as well as the occasional (and I do mean occasional) actual nice and respectful person who I don't mind talking to.
