Some schools in China have begun reopening on a limited basis as the spread of coronavirus seems to be slowing.
Qinghai province on the Tibetan Plateau was the first to reopen schools last week, less than two months after the outbreak began.
Schools in Guizhou, southwest China, and Xinjiang, northwest China, followed by welcoming students on Monday this week.
Only one grade each for middle school and high school have so far been allowed back in the two provinces, however, and it is not yet clear when other grades will be invited to attend.
All students and teachers are required to pass a temperature check before entering the school and wear face masks throughout the day.
The three provinces are thought to be the first to resume physical classes in China because the numbers of COVID-19 infections has been relatively low: 146 in Guizhou, 76 in Xinjiang and just 18 in Qinghai.
Meanwhile, students across the rest of China continue to take lessons online with no date yet set for their return to the classroom.
It is likely schools will reopen gradually, both in terms of area and grades.

That must be a great relief for the parents! It's not easy to occupy young attentive minds over a long spell of isolation.
