A Chinese man with great art and crafts skills has been fined after painting his own road signs in a bid to ease his commute.
The 28-year-old man surnamed Cai was captured on surveillance cameras on Sept. 27 painting a new white arrow on a road in Lianyugang, Jiangsu province.
When questioned by police, Cai explained that he hoped to redirect traffic in order to make is daily bus journey to work less frustrating, the Modern Express reports.
"I saw that the straight lane was always packed with cars, while the lane that turns left has a lot of space," he reportedly said.
"I thought changing the signs would make my commute smoother."
Police said Cai’s actions were dangerous and could have caused an accident.
They have since repainted the part of the road in question.
The story is reminiscent of an incident in May this year in Zhejiang when a man was caught drawing himself a parking space with chalk.
