According to a notifice on the Chinese Ministry of Public Security’s website, in a move approved by the State Council and in accordance with the Entry and Exit Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China, they have decided to begin keep biometrics tabs on all foreigners entering the country in order to strengthen security and better manage those entering and exiting the country.

According to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Public Security, in 2017, China Immigration Inspection will begin recording biometrics information including fingerprints of all people between 14 and 70 years old at all entry points open to the outside. Foreign holders of diplomatic visas or those with mutual benefit to China will be able to forego fingerprinting. An initial testing site will be opened on February 10th in Shenzhen Airport and other entry points and afterwards will be implemented in other areas.

The Ministry of Public Security expressed that recording and keeping such information of foreign nationals entering and exiting the country is a vital move in immigration management. Curently there are numerous countries who have already put such measures in place. The adoption of effective measures will increase the efficacy of China Immigration Inspection, safeguard orderly entry and exit into and out of China and continuously raise the standard of immigration management.

If that means less waiting at border checkpoints and no more yellow entry form, then I'm all for it.
