The economic prospects in China continue to attract returning countrymen who were educated overseas. In the joint report “2016 Report on the Employment Prospects for Repatriated Chinese” released by Center for China Globalization and Highway Career Services, repatriated Chinese cite personal and cultural reasons as well as perceived economic opportunities in China as the top reasons for their decision to return. At the same time, the repatriated Chinese face challenges such as underemployment and a monthly wage averaging less than 10,000 RMB. The report does have a silver lining for overseas Chinese who returned to their homeland, citing better and better career prospects in the long-term.

I find that Chinese students going abroad for study, does not reflect the reality of living or wroking in China. Everyone in China knows that to make money, you dont have to be smart or educated. You just need connections or "guan xi". Those students that stay in China and make those connections, have an advantage over even the smartest students coming back from abroad. If I was a Chinese parent, unless I wanted to leave China and immigrate somewhere else, I would make my child stay in China and focus on networking as much as possible, rather than killing themselves studying. Good examples of this are the Alibaba guy,the QQ guy and the DiDi Che guy. No original ideas, no special education, no creativity. Just copy and paste someone elses idea or business model, then make some connections. Thats all it takes in China. Not some fancy foreign diploma.

Yeah, I kind of rolled my eyes at the salary of less than 10K RMB part. Your first job out of school never gives a high salary. Suck it up, snowflakes.

'...citing better and better career prospects in the long-term' Who doesn't know china's real growth peaked at 13% in 2007 and in recent years MNCs and factories are fleeing like hell? All hell is going to break lose in 2017. You deserve every bit of it, china.
