Man Jailed for Selling Porn Site Memberships Despite Only Making 1 RMB Per Sale

A man named Mr. Li was recently arrested for selling membership cards for a pornographic site online. The catch? He was only profiting 1 RMB per card. Even though his profits were minimal, he was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 1,000 RMB for the dissemination of pornographic material for profit.

In November 2014, Li established a QQ group to sell VIP cards for a porn website. The VIP card allowed members to watch a certain number of porn videos. Li would sell one-year VIP cards for 37 RMB.

A Netizen named Wang purchased a card from Li in June 2015. He transferred 37 RMB to Li using Alipay. Then Li purchased a VIP card online for Wang for 35.99 RMB. Li only earned 1 RMB in the transaction. Then Li transferred 184 pornographic files to Wang from his own cloud storage.

After hearing the case, a Jiangyin court believed because he sold the VIP cards and sent pornographic files directly to the buyer’s computer, Li was guilty of the dissemination of pornographic video for profit.
