Netizens had incited an online movement to block the entrances to the two KFC stores: Puyang’s Lianhua branch and Huanghe Road branch. The two stores were unable to open, and the movement resulted in the disturbance of social order. Puyang police were notified and subsequently broke up the crowd.
Police investigated the incident and found that the action had been organized by Li Xing, 33 from Dong’e, Shandong, Yuan Yong, 36 from Qingfeng, Henan, and Liu Yong, 41 from Hualong district, Puyang. Li was sentenced to 15 days in administrative detention, and Yuan and Liu were sentenced to 13 days.
