Scantily Clad Photos Taken at IKEA Cause Widespread Controversy

Photos of a woman shopping in a T-shirt and underwear in Beijing’s Sanyuanqiao IKEA have caused widespread controversy in China.

“I finally know why so many Beijingers like visiting IKEA,” said a Netizen on Weibo. In the photos, other customers can be seen shopping near the scantily clad woman. The images are taken from behind, and seem like an attempt at a “naked photo shoot.” When Chinese media reached out to the Netizen who originally published the photos, he said that his friends had had a photo shoot at the Sanyuanqiao IKEA store.

Beijing police contacted the original poster, telling him to remove the photos. At this time, the original photos have been deleted.

Netizens said that the woman had been wrapped up a coat and had thrown it off quickly for the photos when no one was looking.

IKEA stated that the photos were not taken at the Sanyuanqiao IKEA store and that the incident did not occur at either IKEA store in Beijing. However, the company said that IKEA China has contacted state authorities about the matter and are taking the investigation very seriously.

Calm down, China. Good grief! You're so paranoid about everything...esp. sex. You can see more skin in an average bathing suit. So whattarya gonna do?...arrest everyone at a pool, too?
