China Shuts Down iBooks and iTunes Movies

China Shuts Down iBooks and iTunes Movies
Apr 25, 2016 By eChinacities.com

The New York Times reported last week that Apple’s iBooks Store and iTunes Movies have been shut down in China.

In response, Apple released a statement that said, “We hope to make books and movies available again to our customers in China as soon as possible.” This shut-down in China is a severe blow to Apple. There are rumors that the shut-down was ordered by China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.

The two services along with Apple Music were released in China just six months ago. The Chinese market is important for the growth of Apple. Apple CEO Tim Cook and other company executives expect that China will overtake the United States as the largest market for Apple products.
