Hazardous Ground Pollution Hospitalizes 500 Changzhou Students in 4 Months

Nearly 500 students from Changzhou Foreign Language School have been hospitalized for physical abnormalities in the past four months. Ministry of Education spokesperson Xu Mei said the local education department will work with government authorities to run environmental tests on the area surrounding the school.

Since the end of 2015, 493 students have been diagnosed with a range of physical abnormalities including dermatitis, eczema, bronchitis, blood abnormalities, leukopenia, and more. Individuals at the school have also been diagnosed with lymphoma, leukemia, and other serious malignant diseases. Parents suspect that the illnesses are tied to chemical poisoning from land near the school. A survey found that the school’s land contained 100,000 times as many pollutants than a normal sample.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and provincial Jiangsu government have set up a joint investigation team at the Changzhou site.

WoW, this is scary. But why is the school still open? There clearly is a threat to safety.

I was just thinking the exact same thing. The school should have been closed immediately and students relocated to other schools in the area. At least with this report, parents now know not to send their kids there and parents of exising students can take them out.

How much you wanna bet parents still don't pull their kids out. Chinese parents love their children especially when you can risk their lives in order to collect compensation.
