Guangzhou Dancing Ayis Invited to Ottawa to Perform on Canada Day
Apr 15, 2016 By eChinacities.com

Chinese ayis were recently invited to perform a dance in Ottawa on Canada Day by the local tourism bureau. The Ottawa Tourism Bureau invited 30 Chinese ayis from Guangzhou, Guangdong to dance in the city on July 1.

The trip was organized by Guangdong Nanhu International Travel Service who offered a choice of seven different travel routes through North America for the ayis. The women will also be given certificates by Ottawa’s major as “honorary citizens” of the city.

The ayis will dance to the popular Mainland hits “Xiao Pingguo,” and “Zui Xuan Minzu Feng.”

Ayis have faced occasional backlash in China for dancing in public squares. Neighbors often complain that the dancing groups blast the music too loudly, and wake everyone up.

They'll use the 'honourary citizen' certificate to try and emigrate.

Seriously? Are dancing middle aged women the best that China has to market as 'culture'? Man, the void left over by the Cultural Revolution is HUGE.
