No surprises here: the Ministry of Water Resources reported in January 2016 that China’s water is generally classified as “poor quality.”
In 2015, the ministry monitored groundwater in the Songliao Plain, the North China Plain, and Shanxi. The Jianghan Plain and parts of Northwest China were monitored in 2013. 80.2% of the water tested in the two surveys was found to be undrinkable.
32.9% of the water tested was found to be Class IV. Class IV water is generally found in industrial areas and is not fit for human consumption. 47.3% of the water was Class V. Class V water is heavily polluted and also not fit for consumption. The main pollutant found was nitrogen pollution, but heavy metals and toxic organic pollutants were found in some areas.
China’s water reserves are also under threat. Groundwater reserves have declined in major areas in the past year.

This is what makes it such a strong and wealthy country, the whole world can see china is filled to the brim with unselfish, highly educated, cultured, environmentally respectful people. This is the reason why ONLY 80% of drinking water is unsafe for human consumption !
