Creative Primary Teacher Uses QR Codes to Collect Homework

A teacher at the Primary School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University decided to teach his students about technology by asking students to hand in assignments through QR code.

Gu Haibin, a computer teacher at the primary school, asks his students to generate a QR code that leads to their assignments online. The QR codes can be sent to him by email, QQ, WeChat or handed to him in person.

“We took an hour or two in class to learn how to generate the codes, and in the end it makes everything easier and saves time and effort,” said Gu.

When Gu scans his students’ QR codes, their homework appears on his mobile phone screens. Students often get creative with the assignments and add pictures and background music to their text.

Gu’s approach to handing in homework has been welcomed by his students. “We are in the information age. Many students like to work with computers. If a job is done on the computer, it is less boring than usual. Computers make learning more fun,” said one of Gu’s sixth grade students.

Well, even if the teacher's intentions aren't so wholesome, he did something creative which is more than can be said of most people in OUR CHINAR.

A creative method to the strict focus on education. Making sure his students will have an appreciation for proper deadlines and responsibilities. That should be applied more often earlier in education globally.
