German Speed Skaters Raise Complaints Over 620 Yuan Car Ride
Mar 10, 2016 By eChinacities.com

According to Shanghai traffic enforcement, four German speed skaters who came to Shanghai for the 2016 Short Track Speed Skating Championship hired a minivan to drive them from Pudong Airport to the Regal East Asia Hotel, a journey that typically takes about an hour by car. They were asked to pay 620 Yuan.

Recognizing that that the fare was too high, the athletes notified the the organizing committee of the competition who with the help of staff complained to the Shanghai Municipal Traffic Law Enforcement Bureau.

Traffic enforcement discovered that beyond the inflated fair, the minivan was actually operating illegally, as it was improperly leased. According to traffic enforcement personnel, the car rental company’s passenger transportation violations are punishable by a fine of 3000 Yuan.

China embarrass themselves at every turn. Their people are walking billboards for scams, dishonesty and a severe lack of core principles. They strive to copy the western business model, and then only copy about 20% of it. At the heart of the failure is a moral void - a necessary trustworthiness. If you're going to do anything successfully, it needs to go hand-in-hand with a win-win mentality. That way you secure return & recommended business. Without it, you lose.

If you feel like you are being ripped off then don't pay and walk away, there is no way illegal cabs can sue you for not paying, if it comes to hands then any fit laowai can kick their ass easily.
