The Guide to Sleeping in Airports recently released its 2015 global airport rankings. The top 10 worst airports were mainly located in developing countries. Nigeria’s Port Harcourt International Airport was named the worst airport in the world because of its “corruption, chaos, crowds, dirt, and stress.” Singapore’s Changi Airport was once again named the best airport in the world and the best airport in Asia.

Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport were ranked as some of the best in the world and fourth and fifth in Asia. Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Airport was listed among the worst airports in Asia.

Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Airport was ranked as the sixth worst airport in Asia. China’s second busiest airport and the 16th busiest airport in the world features dirty toilets and drinking fountains. The site also mentions that the airport is often filled with smoke, only China Mobile customers get WiFi, and there are limited staff available to help passengers.

Taipei’s Taoyuan Airport, on the other hand, features Hello Kitty shops, Chinese tea shops, Taiwanese music, a library, an art museum and more. The airport has been described as one of the most innovative in the world. It provides passengers a number of practical services including free WiFi, shuttles to hotels, private clubs, and a 15 minute free shower.

Hong Kong International Airport offers a number of luxurious features including gardens, rest areas, and showers. The airport also boasts an impressive IMAX theatre which shows domestic and foreign films. In addition, there are friendly staff and 24-hour dining options. The Guide to Sleeping in Airports reports that Hong Kong International is one of the best airports in Asia to spend the night in.

The Guide to Sleeping in Airports reviews over 26,000 questionnaires on the world’s airports in order to create their rankings. The selection criteria includes airport facilities, staff, whether passengers are allowed to stay overnight, and smaller details including armrests, ambience, ATMs, and drinking fountains.
