An “emotionally disturbed” passenger injured himself and the co-pilot on a KLM flight from Amsterdam to Beijing on Sunday. The co-pilot suffered minor injuries, and the man was subdued by flight crew. The aircraft landed safely in Beijing.
The passenger aboard flight KL897 locked himself in the plane’s bathroom and tried to injure himself with a shard of glass. He then tried to attack the people around him, and managed to injure a member of the cockpit crew in a cabin gallery. The man was quickly overpowered by other staff and passengers.
The co-pilot suffered minor injuries and returned to the Netherlands after receiving treatment in Beijing. KLM released a statement stressing that at no point was flight safety at risk.
NBC reported the passenger has suspected mental problems. The Telegraph said that the passenger in question was a Chinese tourist. However, it is still unclear who the passenger was and how was able to bring a piece of glass aboard the plane. Witnesses said that other passenger subdued the man by tying him to a chair.
The aircraft did not make an emergency landing, and landed in Beijing as scheduled. The attacker was taken away by police upon landing.

Having lived and worked in China for a few years, Ive come to the conclusion that most Chinese are emotionally disturbed. There seems to be an edginess about them, most probably caused by the turmoil that they've endured over the last century and more so with the tumultuous events of the cultral revolution. Subsequently, denial 5 is a big part of how they seem to deal with problems and life in general.

probably an illegal migrant caught and sent back. being forced to go back to China against my will would make me "emotionally disturbed" too. the authorities will punish him for making such a scene and causing China to lose fave a second time.
