Xi’an immigration officials seized a fake passport from a traveler on Monday. The traveler had used the passport in the past to enter Italy, Germany, France, Hong Kong, and China without any problems.
The traveler was from Zhengzhou, Henan, and was traveling from Xi’an to Paris. Shaanxi border security officer Wu Nan said that the traveler was caught at Xi’an’s exit port holding a fake Korean passport, posing as a Korean immigrant to Xi’an.
Six people have been arrested this year in five similar cases in Shaanxi this year. Most were carrying fake or altered documents
On December 11, two travelers holding fake Italian residence permits traveled were caught in Portugal in a similar case to the recent one in Xi’an. The fake document holders were from Africa and were trying to travel to Italy.
The case this week in Xi’an was the second incidence this year in which travelers were caught with fake foreign documents. Wu Nan said that the fake documents are sometimes purchased or taken from foreigners in China.

The deflection in this article is the classic Chinese way of arguing. Whenever anything bad is pointed out about China, the first thing they do is point out a similar case in another country. "The fake document holders were from Africa..." How does this pertain to this story at all?
