The first round of Chinese Rhodes Scholarship hopefuls are in their final selection stage. The Rhodes Scholarship for graduate study at Oxford, is the most competitive and selective scholarship in the world. This year is the first year the scholarship is open to Chinese students. Four will be chosen out of the remaining 16 candidates.

The 16 Chinese candidates- eight men and eight women- are enrolled in universities in eight different countries. They traveled to Shanghai on December 4 to participate in closed door interviews.

The four Chinese Rhodes Scholars will be selected in early December 2015. The recipients will enter masters or doctoral programs at Oxford University in October 2016. The scholarship will cover all expenses including tuition, room and board, spending money, health insurance, travel and more. Students receive about 50,000 Pounds (480,000 Yuan) for the academic year.

The Rhodes Scholarship has now been expanded to more than thirty countries and regions including the US, Germany, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Jamaica, India, Hong Kong, and China.

Samsara

I assume the bribes they pay in their "closed door interviews" exceed the scholarship amount. Business is the only reason any university deals with Chinese students.
