Beijing Replaces Huge Bridge in 43 Hours, Foreign Netizens Shocked
Nov 24, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Beijing workers have shocked foreign netizens by demolishing and rebuilding Sanyuan Bridge in Beijing in merely 43 hours. A time-lapse of the construction has gone viral online, with 1.2 million views on YouTube.

The plan did not go perfectly: the construction company originally had scheduled 24 hours for the project. The bridge was built with two kiloton mechanical pulleys that helped place the pre-built beams.

Foreign Netizens joked about the fast construction compared to construction speeds in their own country. Netizen Kevin Yew said, “In my country, it would take three years to build.” Another Netizen Jojo Delos Santos said, “They were lucky, in our country we would have to wait three presidencies to complete it.”

@Ron: In the UK, you’d need a five-year plan and there would be 3000 percent cost overages, like what happened with the new Scottish Parliament Building.

@Patrick Chua: In my country, the Philippines, this would take one half of an entire presidency.

@Eric Faivre: In Indonesia, it would take 43 weeks for officials to decide how much money to spend, and then four years to build the bridge.

@Saki Real: Our little five meter long bridge took four years to build.

@Mistral: In France, they generally would build 20 percent of the bridge and take two to five years to complete the rest.

@Benny: The whole world has a lot of admiration for China, and now recognizes China’s quality and efficiency when it comes to infrastructure.

Those comments sound like 100% Chinese propaganda. Quantity over quality here, that bridge will probably collapse during a strong wind.

I often think that the wu Mao gang ha s smartened up and are starting to pose as people like samara who are so obviously pro west to make others believe that all foreigners felt this way. It would be a clever ruse and definitely one I fell for. Surely there can't be foreigners here that are this intolerant and ignorant, so it must be a trick.

Beijing is where Xi lives. How long would it take to do the same in Nanjing?

There was a similar video on reddit a couple of weeks ago. However this was in Britain and they removed a bridge over the M6. They completely rebuilt it and had traffic flowing withing 17 hours. This is a great achievement by the Chinese but let's not glorify the build as many countries would do the same if it was on an essential road.

The goods are cheap and disposable....well not cheap anymore. But for something you got to throw away in a period of time, doesnt need to be high quality. Even the same for cars, BYD , amazing cars when it comes to disposable vehicles. use em for a couple of years and throw them. And all that crap about safety and bla bla bla is just fooling around. Either you want it to drive good and fast or you drive cheap. Diane died in a mercedeze W140, the safest and strongest car built in that class till today. so for china you can say...outside bling inside hollow..

She is polluting the earth one way or the other by just being alive every day. Either it is the electricity she uses or the food she cooks or the everyday chores. The environmental emmissions standards change. In the 60's they were different and today they are different. Using a beat up 86 or EE 90 doesnt mean she cares for the environment, means that she likes the car and its enough for her. The materials used in that car (which shed everyday bit by bit) are not very environment friendly at all. Does she drive to a hospital once in a while?...hospitals cause more pollution than factories if you knew that. Disposable items are made with the intent of recycle, so technically they are more environment friendly, arent they?

Well even though it can be a point of crticism and fun for many that the quality isnt good. But it is impressive. The bridges madein 4 years in france or Uk arent made out of gold aswell. UK has one of the worst roads i have ever seen, so i for one atleast appreciate chinese road quality. Secondly the reason things get done here is because its government owned and no democracy. I personally do believe democracy is a piece of shit, and not exactly the source of development. It is based on personal preferences. Thirdly there are private contractors involved abroad, thus the quality is worst and costs sky high because they steal money. In china the government decides and executes so things are done on time and effectively. However they are quite stupid at law making in general, but brilliant at manual work and over achieving when it comes to disposable items.

"I personally do believe democracy is a piece of shit" --- Personally, I'm very glad to be from a "piece of shit" democratic nation. In fact, all the nations with the highest standards of living happen to be democracies.

I don't agree with his statement but I most certainly do not agree with yours either. I'm sure I could name a number of democratic countries that are in complete poverty. China isn't exactly a dictatorship either. There are problems with democratic countries and socialist countries and even though I think that personal freedoms are a lot better in most democratic countries(not all) I do agree with his opinion that in a government similar to the Chinese style it is quite simply easier to get things done. Whether those things are done for the greater good of the country and are corruption free is another thing entirely.

I'm not really certain where you get your basis for these arguments but judging by the countries of the world their government style seems to have little reflection on their progress and or their corruption level. I'm not sure how someone who is on echinacities and therefore most likely lives in China could be ignorant to this fact but you should know that China has the second largest economy in the world and it's not a democracy. They have also been at peace for 36 years. I'm not sure how you measure progress but that seems pretty damn progressive to me. Now don't get me wrong I am not ignorant to China's flaws. Heck they have a LOT of flaws but I am also not ignorant to democratic western countries flaws too. This is why I posted as I felt that OP's original post was extremely ignorant but your reply was too. Democracies have their flaws as simple as that and to reply that "the standards of living higher in democratic countries than non-democratic ones" simple is ridiculous. If this lets me share links to sources outside of this website then take a look at these two links. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2013/07/14/most-corrupt-countries/2512785/ http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/01/01/the-3-most-corrupt-countries-in-the-world.aspx I did a quick search on bing and I searched the most corrupt countries in the world. If you notice in the first link all of the countries mentioned are Democratic and the standard of living is shockingly bad in many of them. The second link has an image of the world with colours reflecting the corruption level of that country as you can see many of those countries with dark colours are democratic. You need to also be reminded that the USA is a strongly capitalist country their entire election basis is funded around the idea of making rich people richer. Presidents are sponsored by huge corporations with the understanding that their needs will be made if that person becomes president. I am actually for democracy but I am also not blind to the facts. It's not perfect and it certainly isn't simply better because it's democratic.

Omg you should really use the brain God gave you before you start spouting this kind of rhetoric. Please name a country where the government did a good thing and not something to appease their corporate overlords. Didn't Obama say it was a time for a change and pledge to get the troops out. Still working on that promise eh? What about the government shutdown a few years ago was that meant to be for the good of the people? Please try not to show your ignorance and empty minded acceptance to faulty ideologies. Just makes you looked.
