Nov 04, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Chinese love to shop online, but only about half of what is purchased on the internet in China is genuine.

China’s online shopping industry grew 40 percent in 2014, reaching 2.8 trillion Yuan. However, the Ministry of Commerce recently reported on the growing issue of counterfeit and shoddy goods sold online.

Statistics from the State Administration for Industry and Commerce show that in 2014, only 58.7 percent of products purchased online were genuine. There has been a growing number of customer complaints and cases concerning fake and poorly made products. The online shopping sector received 77,800 complaints in 2014, an increase of 356.6 percent from the previous year.
