Cruise giant Carnival is looking to launch a new “mass entertainment cruise ship,” in China in 2017, according to USA Today. Princess Cruises will also launch a new ship in China in 2017.

Carnival Cruises, Princess Cruises, and AIDA Cruises are all owned by Carnival Corporation. Together Carnival Corporation cruises account for nearly half of the global cruise industry.

Previously, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines also acquired two new ships for the Chinese market.

Carnival CEO Arnold Donald issued a statement on the 13th saying, “Now is the opportune time for the cruise industry in China.”

In 2006, Carnival’s Costa Crociere cruise line first entered the Chinese market. There are currently three Costa Crociere ships in China, and the company plans to add another two by the end of 2016.

In 2017, Princess Cruises will release its first custom-made ship for Chinese customers. Carnival expects to have more than 500,000 Chinese passengers this year, an increase of 43% from 2014.

Oh my gosh....those boats are gonna need to be made with powerful hoses to wash off the grossness. Chinese people are so emotional... I bet at least ten people jump and attempt suicide (so romantic on a boat) during every cruise. Norwalk virus invest the cleanest of Western Boats... they are taking a huge... sanitary gamble. They better have like 50 Chinese "doctors" on board... People go to the "doctor" here for the stupidest reasons.. The boats should just be coated with teflon, have drain holes, and basically have every floor area be a drainage...slash toilet.

Praise for the Chinese government. They lifted 400 million people out of poverty... or did the people do that themselves after the government quit choking them? Anyway, those people now can afford food, housing, cars, luxury goods. Another headline on this site read: 'Money is leaving China faster than ever'. Whatever the same government tries to do to prevent this, foreign companies are still pretty good at what they do.

"They lifted 400 million people out of poverty... or did the people do that themselves after the government quit choking them?" --- Spot on. South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan (all of whom avoided Communism) developed MUCH faster than mainland China, with their environments intact.

"In 2017, Princess Cruises will release its first custom-made ship for Chinese customers." --- Really, they just need an effective means of washing phlegm, urine, fecal matter and sanitary pads off the walls and floor. I guess it's logistically similar to transporting livestock.
