China to Experience Full-Blown Bachelor Crisis by 2020
Oct 05, 2015 By eChinacities.com

There are currently tens of millions more marriage-age men than women in China because of a serious gender imbalance within the young population. Experts say that China’s number of bachelors will have the country in a full blown crisis in 2020.

Chinese young people born in the 1980s have a gender imbalance of 136:100. Young people born in the 1970s have it even worse, with a 206:100 ratio.

At the end of 2014, Mainland China will have 700,079,000 men, and over 33 million more men than women, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

To get rid of this problem China may need to start WW3 to rebalance their population.

You know it's scary but given how it has been militarizing and pushing boundaries about the last few years............

The-Final-Say

There are many things missing in this article, such as the fact many parents still require a dowry or a house to be bought, at unreasonable prices. In Shanghai alone, many quality women remain single due to the fact that even the smallest, old and filthy home would cost a lifetime for most people on reasonable and average salaries. Couple this with the spoiled brat mentality that many women seem to have, the 136:100 ratio really doesn't spell out the truth. In this country, a good many men simply cannot afford a wife and the ones that can will take at least one or more mistresses and this is perfectly ok by local society underneath. In fact, I recently read an article that said in this culture if you were a businessman or in the "public service" and you didn't have at least one mistress while being married, others would think something is actually wrong with you. So some women would rather live alone and be some man's weekend out than settle for some man who would be stable simply due to the greed mentality. I have personally met such girls that do this as their career and they flaunt their off their luxuries as if they were educated from Harvard or Oxford and got CEO level jobs. Sadly, some guys would be lucky to hit the KTV or Sauna a few times a month just to touch a woman, never a good thing. Now add the fact that many non Chinese males are quite attracted to the Chinese woman's natural beauty and taking their fair share, what you get is a far bigger imbalance. This leads to men being socially imbalanced, mentally and physically. What is the basic, scientific and fundemental purpose of all living creatures? To continue on. It is ironic but that is also the same purpose of any government, to cultivate a society that continues on through each generation, thus keeping those in power at the present, in power in the future. A government that does not reproduce well or lacks good family values, will eventually lose it's ability to be useful for it's people. If men cannot fulfill their biological purpose, their life quality diminishes. Humans are social creatures, meaning they need to communicate and associate with one another. Men who are unable to achieve this, due to looks, personality, or financial issues, begin to feel helpless and hopeless. This is a dangerous situation. Someone above mentioned the French National with Chinese wife. This is very sad and also a very serious reality. All of us men who are with a Chinese wife should take the necessary steps to protect our women at all costs and make sure not to flaunt or do too much out of the ordinary to attract unwanted attention to our relationships. In addition, I would like to think that the government would pay special attention to eliminating the dowry tradition and also other greedy traditions like house and car buying and encouraging naked marriages with true love values enhanced to keep themselves safe for the near future. This can be achieved through various financial programs intended to encourage families to raise children in a proper way where the children shall be the beneficiaries of good government benefits that also take off some of the financial burdens that modern day families now face. If traditional parents see the benefits of obeying government policies and allowing their offspring to properly prepare for having families, the children of those families will be raised by two loving parents and also receive the benefits from the responsible government, thus creating self worth and appreciation for those in power. This is easier said than done, I am afraid. Many greedy parents will undercut the system by demanding their benefits from men wanting to marry their daughters, thus spoiling the women more and creating more social pressure. It will be interesting to watch this unfold but whatever happens, we as expats must be careful and do everything in our powers to remain safe.

I think if a Chinese man wants a wife he just needs money. Because if he is rich, but smokes, shits on the street, has shit for teeth, a woman's family will make her marry him. Because, she will say, I have to obey my family, I'm uh Chinese. But, if a poor man is educated, gentle, romantic, he won't marry because the family won't allow it. My friend has been here 1 month, a European woman, and she is ready to leave, she says this country and its people are sick inside and out.

They overdramatize the numbers by saying 200/100 males to females. It is based on eligible singles. So, if there were 1100 boys and a thousand were married that would leave 100 single men, and if there were 1000 women and 999 were married that would leave 1 single women. Leaving a ratio of 100/1.

I think the article made a mistake and "1970s" should be replaced by "1990's" which would make more sense considering the effect the one child policy.

This is probably because Chinese people leave newborn females in the local park just before dawn, or smother them before anyone is aware of their birth. What kind of place is this that it is illegal to know the sex of the baby before birth? And yet, corruption is so high that people simply bribe the ultrasound technician in order to get an early warning to abort an unborn girl. On the other hand, why abort the girls when you can enact the ancient and bewildering tradition of demanding a bride-price before her wedding? Savages.

I remember months ago talking to a group of university students at our English corner about boyfriends/girlfriends. These students were all about 21 or 22 and medical students, so presumably not too stupid. All of them said they had no partners but all wanted one. I asked the guys what they wanted from their future girlfriends and they just mumbled and did not really say anything at all. The girls all said their future boyfriends should be kind and romantic. When I asked the boys why they did not take notice of the girls requirements they just mumbled a bit and said "we don't do that". With these as examples of Chinese men in their early twenties is it little wonder the girls don't want them.

With this number of men with nothing to lose, there is going to be serious unrest and probably an increase of certain types of crime such as people trafficking.

Now might be a good time to rethink the stupid attitude where a 30 y.o woman is considered too old and untouchable.

Let's see where the blame will end up. Will they realize that the government forced families to only have one child, and that without government care for the elderly, families went with boys (who would be expected to earn enough money to take care of their parents, rather than culturally expected to be taken care of by their parents until they married someone who would take care of them)? Since that'd require critical reflection on government policies and outdated cultural norms, I'm doubtful. It's much easier to blame "foreigners" for "stealing our women".

"At the end of 2014, Mainland China will have (...) over 33 million more men than women, according to the National Bureau of Statistics." Not easy to predict last year's situation. Then there's the gender imbalance among young people born in the 1970s. Can't blame the one-child policy for that.
