A 15 year old’s family is suing a Chengdu plastic surgery clinic after an intern botched an unauthorized sex change surgery on their son.
Xiao Nan was born a male, but felt that he was trapped the wrong body. He had been secretly taking hormones to suppress his testosterone levels, but wanted to take the next step. Xiao Nan met someone online that said they could help him become a woman through testicular removal surgery in Chengdu. The two agreed to meet and Xiao Nan traveled to Chengdu behind his parents’ backs.
In Chengdu, at Hanmei Plastic Surgery Center, an intern named Tian met Xiao Nan and performed the surgery. It did not bother Tian that Xiao Nan’s ID card read, “born in 2000.”
Tian botched the procedure and left Xiao Nan seriously injured. When Xiao Nan’s father found out that his son had had an unauthorized sex change operation, he angrily contacted the Wuhou district police. Tian was soon arrested and the clinic lost its medical license.

It's a sad story. A kid who felt seriously out of place in life couldn't take it anymore and, instead of suicide, decided to fix his problem in a positive way. Unfortunately the idiot intern didn't know what he was doing and ruined the kid's life. Yeah the kid is also to blame, sure, but desperation can make someone do just about anything. Damn right they should lose their license. Why would any clinic let an intern perform such a life-altering procedure on a minor without permission. What? What's that you say? This is China? Oh.. ok...

Who says suicide was his only other option? Surely there are other options for a 15 year old besides killing yourself and changing your sex from a guy you met online.

You're right, he could choose to become a ladyboy. But I'm pretty sure someone who opts for surgical removal of the genitals feels there are no other alternatives, considering he already secretly took hormones.
