Jiangsu Sanitations Workers Made to Wear GPS at Work
Sep 22, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Jiangsu Rudong District sanitation workers have to wear portable GPS to work every day. Netizens have discussed whether or not monitoring workers in this way is “disrespectful.”

The Rudong Sanitation Department and local authorities have responded that the implementation of “digital sanitation,” is an integral part of the department. They said the purpose of the GPS is to regulate work and that there are no cameras, recording devices, or other monitoring devices.

Yang, the manager of the Rudong Sanitation Department said that the so-called GPS is part of the city’s digital sanitation assessment system. It includes monitoring garbage transport vehicles and garbage transfers.

Rudong District has more than 500 sanitation workers who are responsible for the roads, rivers and other areas in the region. The region only has six inspectors overseeing the workers, and therefore traditional assessment models are not enough to ensure the quality of work.

they also do things like case housing complexes car parks - usually at night - to see if there are any e-bike batteries that can be forcefully removed (by someone else) from an e-bike.
