Pregnant Student Wins Right to Maternity Leave from Vocational College
Sep 11, 2015 By eChinacities.com

On registration day at Yantai Automotive Engineering Vocational College on September 1, a female student shocked the school’s administration by asking for maternity leave. The very pregnant woman brought her fiancé along to registration, and asked the school if she could take maternity leave until the child was born.

School administrators were surprised at the request. “We cannot give into this student, what would this to do family planning?” The student’s request was passed to the dean and the college’s president who held a meeting to discuss the issue. In the end, the college’s higher-ups decided to help the student overcome her difficult situation and let her begin classes after the child was born. The decision was approved later by the local government and household registration bureau.
