We've all lost things in Chinese taxis: phones, wallets, the usual. Last Sunday, Poland's Pawel Fajdek took the game up a notch when he left his newly won IAAF World Championships gold medal in a Beijing taxi after a night of drinking.
Fajdek won the gold medal for the men's hammer throw. He went out, bringing the medal along, to celebrate at a restaurant and took a taxi back to his hotel, when he forget his medal.
Beijing police helped retrieve the gold medal quickly.
The Chaoyang police joked that Fajdek had tried to pay the cab fare with his gold medal, according to rumors. It may even be true: Fajdek admitted later that he was pretty drunk when he had gotten into the cab.
