Don't Jaywalk in Shaanxi! Traffic Police Implements Quotas for Officers
Aug 17, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Shaanxi's Ankang, Hanbin district traffic control department is taking the lead from Shenzhen and upping their police game. Instead of fining jaywalkers however, Ankang has decided to fine its own police teams if they fail to meet their quotas.

“Traffic police must each give out fines totaling more than 5500 Yuan every month for traffic violations. If the task is not completed, 300 Yuan will be deducted from their pay, and 480 Yuan will be deducted from overtime pay. Therefore, their paycheck will only be 900 Yuan.”

A spokesperson from the Ankang district police traffic bureau said that the fines were a way for the department to examine and quantify current police work. and better understand police errors.

Ankang broke the news to its traffic police teams last week.

How unreasonable of them as it's soooooo hard in China to find traffic violations, if traffic cops lose sleep at night worrying about meeting these quotas it's seriously time for an eye test and a career move.
