Two men in Wenzhou got into a fight over a beer tab to save face. One ended up with a broken rib, while the other was sent to jail for assault.

Late last month, in Wenzhou, Zhou and his friend Dan were drinking together at one of the city's stall areas. After three rounds, the two were pretty drunk. The server came over and asked who wanted to get the check.

Zhou and Dan both got out their wallets to pay and began to argue over who got to treat the other. The boss of the food stand came over, and suggested the men just split the bill, but they did not want to lose face.

Their argument soon turned physical, and Zhou found himself punching Dan while he lay on the ground.

The police were called to the scene, and Dan was taken to the hospital with a fractured rib and a bruised lung.

Zhou was sentenced to seven days administrative detention on suspicion of assault.
