A family from Lishui, Zhejiang had the genius idea of carrying 100,000 Yuan in a black trash bag on a car trip from Xianju. Not surprisingly, the trash bag of money accidentally ended up in a trash bin of a service stop on the way home.

That day, Mr. and Mrs. Zhang drove their son and his family from Linhai back home to Lishui. He works at a bank and had a large sum from the bank in his car, wrapped up in a black plastic bag. During the trip, Mr. Zhang's grandson ate a lot of snacks in the car, and threw the wrappers in the same black plastic bags, thinking they were for trash.

On the way home, the family stopped at a service stop, and Mrs. Zhang, also thinking the bags were full of trash, threw them out in a dumpster. The family discovered what had happened back home in Lishui.

The family was extremely upset. They had stopped at a number of service stops along the way and Mrs. Zhang could not remember which one she had thrown away the cash at. Mr. Zhang called one service stop after another, trying to find the money.

Luckily, the money was found quickly by Xianju police and service stop employees and was recovered to the family.

100,000 Yuan is a huge sum of money for the family. Mr. Zhang plans to use the money to build a house in his hometown.

You can build a house for 100,000 rmb?....really? £10,000 or $16,000...what am i missing here? Don't think you can buy one with that, let alone build one!

This is NOT the first time I heard of Chinese doing this... In one story, a Chinese woman and her husband kept 1 000 000 RMB in a trash bag in their closet. Their cleaning woman, thinking it was trash, grabbed it one day and rode to the trash yard. On the way... she heard a screeching sound behind her... getting louder and louder... it was the woman she worked for... running down the road chasing after her.

What is the logic of storing that kind of money in a trash bag? It is asking for exactly that kind of thing to happen! I assume the money wasn't legally acquired, but still...

That they put the "trash" in a dumpster and not on the side of the road is the most surprising part of the story.
