Con-Women Seduce Shenzhen Businessmen, Trick Them Out of Millions

Several successful Shenzhen businessmen were duped by a group of beautiful women who scammed them out of millions of Yuan and disappeared, according to Shenzhen media reports. Li, one of the businessmen, was tricked by a woman who ran off with 2.74 million Yuan after a flash marriage.

When Li first met Zhang X Dan, she seemed highly intelligent, with legitimate business experience. She had previously worked at China Construction Bank and first got Li's attention with her list of high net-worth clients as well as her beauty.

Li and Zhang were married 35 days before Zhang ran off with millions of Yuan to the United States.

Marriage and Business

Last November, Li, the CEO of a Shenzhen health and technology company, met Zhang while she was supposedly working at China Construction Bank. Zhang was in her early 30s and seemed like a sweet and pretty girl. She had graduated from university in Wuhan. Li and Zhang began to chat and he realized that she was from the same hometown as he was: Hangzhong, Shaanxi. Zhang also told him that her parents had divorced when she was young and that she was raised by her grandfather.

Zhang was very blunt with Li when they started dating. She said that he was a good man and she wanted to get married soon after they had sex for the first time. At the time, Li was divorced. He said, “She wanted to get officially married by May 15, and I agreed.” The two got their marriage license at Shenzhen's Luohu District Civil Affairs Bureau.

Li said, “She later said that she wanted to do business with my company and help raise funds. Together we raised 2.74 million Yuan.”

Gone Girl

On June 18, Zhang took the 2.74 million Yuan to China Construction Bank to get a certificate of deposit. Li tried to contact her, but she had shut off her phone. They had just gotten married and he did not suspect anything, so he did not think it was a big deal. However, after four or five hours of not being able to reach her he grew worried and went to the Nanshan District police station.

Police later found that Zhang had boarded a flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles that same day. She had converted the Yuan to U.S. Dollars and deposited it in installments in an underground bank.

In addition, police reported that Zhang had only worked at China Construction Bank from 2008 to 2010. She had actually not been working at the bank when she met Li.

Li said that Zhang had four sets of his original real estate license, ID card and other original documents including the couples' marriage certificate. Without the certificate he cannot file for a divorce. With the documents, Zhang could find someone to pose as Li and sell his property. Li said that police have opened investigations in the United States, but Zhang cannot be extradited.

Large-Scale Scamming

Li's health and technology company had developed an app for booking massages online. The women who worked as masseuses could be booked online and would come do massages on-site. “There are a dozen or so girls working, all very beautiful,” said Li.

When Zhang worked with Li, she worked as the company's legal representative. “She knew some of the women that worked for the service in Hong Kong and conspired with one of them. The girl that plotted with her also fled Hong Kong,” said Li.

Li was not the only one duped in the scam. Zhang was also part of a scam involving Shenzhen jewelery companies. One boss was scammed out of 4 million Yuan worth of jewelry and a major shareholder of another company was cheated out of 2 million Yuan worth of jade. The shareholder was a very elderly man.

Li has been a successful businessman for some time, and had never heard of anyone being cheated like he and the other victims were.

"Li tried to contact her, but she had shut off her phone. They had just gotten married and he did not suspect anything, so he did not think it was a big deal." When a Chinese girl shuts off her phone, it's a big deal.

But... but, unlike immoral foreigners, Chinese take marriage seriously and have strong traditional values, especially Chinese women.

How do these guys get so rich and so far up the food chain but are so easily duped by these ladies? Surely years of warding off business scams should have made him more cautious?
