House Purchasing Made Easier for Foreigners in Beijing

House Purchasing Made Easier for Foreigners in Beijing
Jun 26, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Foreigners looking to buy a house in Beijing no longer need to submit a hardcopy form proving their residence status in China. Instead, the affiliated authorities will be able to check the information online.

According to the national policy, foreigners buying houses in China have to work for over a year and provide proof of their residency for that time. Up until now, Beijing had required that proof to be a hard copy. Now, however, that process has been made electronic.

This change doesn’t affect the actual qualifying standards in place for foreigners buying houses, and is just a procedural change.

According to current law, foreigners are limited to buying one house in China for personal use. Agencies setting up offices here are only allowed to buy spaces for work related use. Additionally, foreign nationals need to be able to prove residency for at least a year.

"Residency rules slighty less impossible"...."Beijing has made it slightly more convenient"....slightly, slighty. See a pattern here? As Ambivalentmace says why buy a house when you can be turfed out at any opportunity. The rules just don't support foreign living in China, and thats just the way they like it, no matter what they say!
