Guangzhou Female Raped After Catching a Ride

Guangzhou Female Raped After Catching a Ride
Jun 16, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Guangzhou - A female was raped by a male driver whom she called over by a ride sharing app, according to a Guangzhou city police report.

“Ah-Ying,” a 21 year old Guangzhou native, expressed to police that on May 29 at approximately 3:00 A.M., she had just finished drinking with friends and decided to catch a ride back home using a ride sharing app. After getting the ride, she quickly passed out in the driver’s car due to having drank too much, only to wake up 5 hours later with the driver in a place which she realized to be a hotel room. Upon learning that she and the driver had two rounds of sexual intercourse, the now conscious Ah-Ying found herself panic stricken and at loss for what to do. The driver then thereafter rushed to a location nearby her original destination and dropped her off in a hurry. Ah-Ying, after returning home and calming down, decided to file a police report.

The local police opened up an investigation to the incident and by examining video surveillance footage of the hotel and parking lot, they quickly determined the identity of the suspect to be Jia Deng, a 29 year old Guangzhou resident who was released from prison in 2013.

Jia Deng turned himself in to the police on June 8, confirming that he did indeed have two bouts of sexual intercourse with the drunken female. Currently, the suspect has already been detained and the case is still being pursued.

In retrospect, the Guangzhou police have reminded city residents to take care of their personal safety and belongings when using ride sharing apps, especially in the case of unaccompanied females late at night. The police also added that it is ideal for people to call a relative explaining their situation as well as the identification information of the car in use, making sure to stay in touch with them the entire time. For drunken individuals catching a ride from a stranger, it is best to be accompanied by a friend or relative.

I don't understand why some people are getting up on their high horse and presuming that peoples comments about the girls stupid decision are excusing the rapists actions. Of course no-one is excusing what the rapist did, so shut up. But look at the situation realistically for a change. I am a young female in China. Even though I feel safe here, I would never in a million years call a strange man for a ride home when I'm smashed. If I myself made this silly decision, I would realise the stupidity of my decision, but also that the rapist is a bastard. We are no longer sheltered from the reality of the world these days, we know there are lots of bad people out there. So lets not serve ourselves on a silver platter. Take the necessary precautions. Why didn't she just use a normal taxi, or go home with her friends? All these 'convenient' apps are not monitored for predators, so use with caution. Of course the rapist is to blame, but he is a predator. He is probably only using that app in the hope that some drunk girl will contact him for a ride. So lets not make it so easy for this scum. Women can be vulnerable at the best of times, let alone when drunk, so take care not to be alone when drunk ladies.

Let me get this straight, this girl essentially called a random stranger to pick her up after getting hammered with her friends, "didn't realize" they had sex, and then allowed herself to be dropped off by him after the ordeal? Sounds like a case of saving face via rape accusation. I'd be interested in seeing some actual evidence, not the mere bs opinions being slung around here from a bunch of apes.

On further pondering after reading your comment, I too believe there is more to this story than meets the eye. Was she so drunk that she didnt remember having sex twice?! And yeah, the big flag is she stayed with him until he dropped her off. I call BS. Ill speculate that she got drunk and eventually left her friends. While alone, some dashing, handsome Chinese male wooed her and they ended up at the hotel. After she sobered up the next day, she felt ashamed about what she did, and/or was ridiculed (probably by her peers), and decided to "save face" with the rape accusation. Hopefully there will be a follow up to this story.

Im NOT blaming the raped...BUT hopefully most of us have enough common sense to see the danger presented here. Key words/phrases include, but limited to: 1) Drunk and alone young presumed naive female. 2) 3 am. 3) got a ride from a male STRANGER. 4) passed out in strangers car. If this isnt a recipe for disaster, I dont know what is. Lastly, she's lucky it didnt turn out worse for her (murder after the rape, as what happens often times in other parts of the world).

Just be smart, in any part of this planet, don't do anything that might put yourself in dangerous situation, don't get drunk if you r by your own, don't take illegal taxi if you r alone and if it's late at night, take a pic of driver's license when you get into a cab and send to your friend. ppl r nice, but evil are real...

It's not about defending the scumbag that hurt the girl, its about learn from others and see what we can do to prevent same thing, we can not pray for the evil all die by themselves but we can learn. after all the emotions and angry, after we wake up next morning, what can we do...

and don't make it personally, we all feeling for the girl, no point to accuse others for being sad, if i saw her, i would have helped her, but i was not there. when no one is there to help you, be smart. if get hurt, try to take evidence, photos, recordings, and go to police, don't be afraid and don't be ashamed. that's what we can do. i hope all the girls have strength and wisdom to defend themselves!

Nobody is excusing the rapists actions you fool. Stop picking up one point one person made and repeating it over and over again ie 'she had it coming'. The person that made that comment was right, she did have it coming. She got drunk with her friends, left her friends, and instead of calling a taxi or someone she knew she called a strange man for a ride. The whole scenario is a recipe for disaster. Of course that doesn't mean the girl was to blame for the rapists actions, but merely that she had made a really stupid decision that in turn lead to the rape. The rapist is a predator just waiting for this opportunity, so us women should take better care not to be alone late at night drunk and call strangers for a ride. That is not justifying the rape, or defending the rapist, its merely stating the facts of the whole situation. We are all responsible for our own actions.

Not slut shaming or anything but if she woke up and realized she had been raped then why in the world did she get a ride home with her rapist after?

@geohist, no one deserves to be the victim of a crime. Making bad choices increases the likelihood of being the victim of a crime. Learn the difference and stop leaving comments before thinking.

The woman chose to catch a ride with a stranger after getting drunk instead of a taxi, she had it coming.

Making an irresponsible decision does not equate to deserving to be raped. Nobody deserves to be a rape victim ever.

@Geohist, Nice leap in logic there, pointing out the girl's bad decision and the obvious consequence does not equate to excusing the rapist.

@dongbeiren, I never said she deserved to be raped, but she had it coming, just the obvious consequence of getting into a stranger's car drunk.

Of course she had it coming you ignorant fool, actions have consequences. Just as people who settle near an active volcano have it coming to die a painful burning death when it inevitably erupts. In no way does that mean they deserve to die, and in no way does that mean I justify rape against women who make stupid decisions. Again, learn the difference.

""She had it coming" = the victim is to blame for the actions of a predator." Nice try putting words in my mouth. "If she didn't (whatever), she wouldn't have been raped." Yes, if she didn't get into a stranger's car when drunk, she wouldn't have been raped. Are you so thick to believe otherwise? Do you think we all live in lala land where girls are safe everywhere to do whatever they want with strange men? "Still defending rape. Keep digging that hole, buddy." Ya, you show me defending rape, and I'll show you the obvious consequence of making stupid decisions. Keep grasping at straws there.

And you keep exposing yourself as having little logic or clueless about the real world. You think a girl getting in a stranger's car when drunk is a good idea? God forbid you have a daughter and you tell her she can trust strange men alone at night. You think pointing out that a girl got raped for getting in a car when drunk is apologizing for rape? Newsflash, strange men take advantage of drunk girls. So yes, she had it coming, and the rapist should be punished.

You're still an ignorant fool. You still haven't answered the question, do you think a drunk girl getting in a stranger's car is a good idea? Yes, she was drunk. Yes she had it coming. No she probably isn't to blame or deserved it. No I don't condone the actions of the rapist. Just the obvious consequence of a stupid choice. Again, learn the difference, or is that too hard? Is a drunk girl getting raped by a strange man she met supposed to surprise me?
