Fudan Takes Down Plagiarized Promo Video
May 29, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Fudan University removed it's 110th anniversary promo video from its website last night after Netizens pointed out similarities between the video and a promo released last year from the University of Tokyo.

Fudan released a new version of the video last night on its official WeChat. The new, more conventional film, is much longer, about 12 minutes long, and details the history of the university.

The original promo video, “To My Light,” has been removed. Fudan's Party Commmittee Propaganda Department has not responded to the allegations of plagiarism.

Teng Yudong, the producer of Fudan's film, admitted that there were issues with the promo. “I have to take responsibility and be honest with Fudan's alumni and everyone who has questioned or criticized the film. I must be ready to accept the outcome.”

Probably there was a slow, painstaking, expensive procedure of approval before making the promotional movie. An original concept would have probably doubled the time and money taken to make it. There are probably universities/businesses cra**ing themselves that they will also be found out for similar plagiarism. This is the country where an online transaction tool is a cheap substitute for accurate translations.
