ChinaJoy, China's largest exhibition for gaming and digital entertainment held in Shanghai, plans to fine models whose costumes expose too much skin. Models in sexy cosplay costumes have been a large draw for the event in previous years.
Female models wearing mini-skirts that expose their buttox or low-slung pants or skirts that reveal their hip bones will face a fine of 5,000 Yuan. Female models will also be fined for wearing, bikinis, outfits with visible underwear, and outfits with no underwear. Male models without a shirt, wearing only underwear or exposing their hipbones in low-slung pants will also be fined 5,000 Yuan.
Organizers are more concerned, however, with how models interact with guests. Models who take part in cage dancing or pole dancing performances, or interact with guests in an “indecent,” or “overly intimate,” way will be fined 10,000 Yuan.
Earlier this year, Shanghai auto shows were banned from using models outright.

You guys are missing the point . It is not a matter should or shouldn't. It is a matter a freedom and rights. No one should have whisky and pizza for breakfast but their shouldn't be a law. This is to be held at a specific place at a specific time. If you don't like it, don't go there.

Unless there is a direct connection to these models breaking the social , moral or legal code by normally engaging is illegal sale of sex or similar....this law is a bit like the old saying of cutting off your nose to spite your face.....the models, more notably dressed is more sensual, enticing or stimulating clothing seems to be a major draw for the event.....so if you ban this part, you in effect reduce your customer base and lower your own profits.

I am far from being conservative, probably am the total opposite. I appreciate this kind of "female beauty" really much. But giving some kind of limitation for some events where showing the asses isn't totally appropriate isn't such a bad thing. Really sometimes I am wondering in what kind of event I am . Am I in a bar in Thailand or at an Auto show. I know quite a lot of people might thing it's another abuse of power from Chinese government but for who has been in China long enough to see how the relatively young girl dress up[ that make sense. Basically as much as you like these clothing, would you let your daughter show up like that ?

Most of the gaming conventions did the same thing in the West a couple of years back. It didn't affect attendance much at all. Hell, if the only reason you're going to a game convention is to see half naked girls there are better ways to achieve that, leave the conventions to those who are there for the games.

Plenty of females game. The changes to the conventions in the west was designed to attract them rather than have them stay away because they are full of horny manchildren. And if you really think you can't see half naked women in China, you are obviously going to all the wrong (or right) places.

As much as I appreciate female beauty and deplore rigid bans, I think this type of limitation might be useful in China. The way women are used to sexualize products here can go too far sometimes. It may also send a message to the fashion industry and the women who follow it blindly: The amount of exposed skin can be ridiculously distracting, and it's bound to have an impact on society. I may have less eyecandy to look at on the streets, but it would be nice for women if they could cover their legs without feeling demoted from mei nv to ayi...

Whether or not some fool commenting on this article believes that this has gone "too far," women should have a choice to dress as they like. The amount of exposed skin can be distracting and impact society? Sounds like hard-core, empty-headed puritanism. I would guess you're either Chinese, or some sort of mormon freak that China seems to attract.

Lord I disagree with you seriously but let me address guest whatever first. If you are gonna attack sb personally be man enough to use your already anon username. Hiding behind guest makes you 3X the coward. Lord: Your logic is way off. The purpose of whatever exhibit is not to just attract people who are interested in the industry or subject, the goal is to attract everyone as many as possible. And scantily clad women work. Marketing 101, get them through the door then you can sell to them. Some will develop an interest in whatever they are about. It is not the governments place to regulate what legal attire a model can wear. Supporting this type of law means you do not want women to have the righ to choose. Models can choose to be a model or not. Take the job or not. And these type of gigs are well sought after by these models. You are 100% wrong.
