Forbidden City To Restrict Number of Daily Visitors, Ban Blacklisted Tourists

Forbidden City To Restrict Number of Daily Visitors, Ban Blacklisted Tourists
May 18, 2015 By eChinacities.com

The Forbidden City announced yesterday that starting June 13, only 80,000 visitors per day will be allowed to enter the tourist site. The museum will also implement a real-name registration system for ticket sales.

Travel agencies will have to book group tickets online, and the traditional on-site ticket booths will be removed.

Tourists on China's “blacklist,” will not be able to purchase tickets to the Forbidden City through the real-name system. Tickets will have to be purchased in advanced by those with valid identity cards and other documents. Visitors will have to show an I.D. card to enter rather than a ticket.

Well, it is called the Forbidden City. To brag about their 5000+ years proud history they should put a huge sign at the gate that says, "No guanxi No bribes No entry". With this new rule they are beginning to restore their glory...

Good luck! Sounds like a load of CCP rubbish to me. Tourists = money, and Chinese never turn down money. You can imagine the nightmares that will take place when travel agencies over sell tickets and 50,000 people are stranded at the gates with valid tickets. China is way to disorganised to pull this off. It will never happen.

'Only' 80,000 visitors per day... it's kind of hard to get your head around the idea that you can use the word 'only' in that sentence.
