Fanciest Track Suit Ever? Dongguan Middle School Charges 2180 Yuan for Uniform

Fanciest Track Suit Ever? Dongguan Middle School Charges 2180 Yuan for Uniform
May 04, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Yesterday, a local student news Weibo account reported that Dongguan Foreign Language School ordered 2180 Yuan uniforms for its students without telling them ahead of time. When students saw the price of the uniform, they were upset and said that they could not afford it. The middle school had decided to issue 12 different uniforms for different weather with a total of 18 pieces with a total price tag of 2180 Yuan.

Weibo commenters encouraged students to “not wear the uniforms,” and said that they, “had been cheated.” A teacher from Dongguan Foreign Language School said that the reported price was correct but added that the price had been determined by the Bureau of Education, not by the school. Furthermore, this price will be the standard for all the public middle schools in the city this year.

A private middle school in Dongguan only charges 900 Yuan for 14 items of clothing. Compared to the new public school uniforms, this now seems like a bargain!

Dongguan: more than 8000 clothing manufacturers. A school blazer (export quality), the most expensive piece in the set, USD12. Sport shoes around USD 4 a pair. These are prices for small orders (a few hundred pieces). gzyajun.manufacturer.globalsources.com/si/6008832512159/pdtl/Boys-school/1123559175/School-blazer.htm Estimated real price per set: less than RMB1000. Population:8 million. Secondary school students:400,000 (conservative estimate). A rough idea how much is in the pockets of bribe taking officials, school principals, other middlemen....etc., at least RMB 400 million. Other significant sources of bribery income include meals, textbooks, school equipments...etc. Fat jackals.......

Agree. With china, export quality is the best quality. These are bound to be low quality clothings. A huge order like this you shave at least 25% off the prices. Factoring in the lower quality the total bribe figure is more likely to be rmb 600-700 million. Split it evenly among say, 1000 high school principals and government officials each gets rmb 700,000. Assuming a monthly wage of 6000 rmb (72,000 rmb annual), just this one shot is equivalent to nearly 10 years pay. Where life is cheap and moral values non existent how many reasons can you find for not screwing everyone else and then buy a passport to Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand....set for life, when everyone screw you too, fake food, fake shampoo, fake medicine? Prison? You got to be a china rookie!

Another Dongguan attraction. More hookers and pimps (10% of population) than students! How many customers? God knows. How many hookers and pimps surround you on a bus? LOL. "The city is known as "China's sex capital"[20][21] or China's "sin city",[22] with the prostitution sector — consisting of brothels, massage parlours, nightclubs, sex hotels, sauna centres and karaoke bars — estimated to contribute 20 to 30 per cent of the total output of the city's service industry, employing between 500,000 and 800,000 people.[23] The prostitution sector has mushroomed since the turn of the century and, by 2014, employed around one in ten of the migrant labour force of between 500,000 and 800,000 people, including around 300,000 prostitutes. Sex services are estimated to contribute 20 to 30 per cent of the total output of the city's service industry. Another estimate put the sector's contribution at 40 billion yuan — roughly 10 per cent of Dongguan's gross domestic product." en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dongguan

Oh please. They do not bat a eye to buy the newest I-Phone. They spend money like it is going out of style on other clothes and internet shopping. They never really care about spending all that money during the various holidays. They are eating better than they ever have. Kids are always stuffing their face with sweets and colas. They will go to internet cafes and KTVs every weekend. They spend tons of money on their houses, new cars, and new e-bikes. This is a small amount to pay, compared to how much money a typical Chinese person spends on themselves. I still have not figured out how so may Chinese people can afford all the things they buy on the meager salaries they report they make. But, they do it somehow.
