Ministry of Commerce Combats Rumors: China Still Attractive for Foreign Investment
Apr 17, 2015 By eChinacities.com

The foreign media recently reported that there appears to be a trend of foreign investors withdrawing from China. This year, Panasonic, Sharp and other well-known foreign companies left China. This news sparked international concern, and foreign media reported that China had become unattractive to investors. Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Shen Danyang said on April 16 that while a number of foreign companies have recently left China, it does not mark a “trend,” of withdrawal of foreign investment.

Shen said that in 2014, foreign investment in China reached $128 billion, making China the country with the largest foreign capital inflow in the world. The Ministry of Commerce reported that foreign investment actually increased in China last year by 11.3%. The Shanghai American Chamber of Commerce confirmed in their “2015 China Business Survey,” that 73% of companies surveyed in China achieved profitability and 75% experienced revenue growth in the past year. 67% of companies surveyed plan to expand investment in China in 2015.

“The data reflects that there are still advantages to China's investment environment and shows that foreign investment is still strong in China,” said Shen.

The time to pack and leave is approaching my friends, those who are married to Chinese nationals should begin the immigration process to take them back home, others be ready to leave anytime. Some big name economic experts are talking about 3,5% economic growth, taking the electricity consumption as measure, far from the 7% announced by Beijing. When the truth is exposed to broad daylight this place will become really ugly, and knowing how Chinese blame everything on foreigners, it will not be safe for us to live here anymore.

Farewell :) I find so very interesting when 'economical experts' are bringing figures, which they probably do not fully understand, to support the standpoints not really related to those figures they used for illustration. But one thing I totally agree with you - a lot of people contributing to this site would do yourself great favor if they would pack and leave - why to live in continuous torture among the people whom they do not respect and in the environment they do not like? Safe trip!

gouxiong, don't you ever get a day off from your job? I thought government propaganda work was supposed to be easy.

It depends what industry you're in, for people who work helping rich Chinese kids get out of China that could spell greater opportunities as the rush out the door intensifies.

Oh dongbeiren, mattharling point is not about lack of biz opportunities. If you read his/her comment properly so it's about personal safety. Of course, anything can happen but I really do not believe that any boxers riot would be possible ... And certainly there are no indications that it could develop into this directions. But if anybody does not think so then it's everybody's free choice to leave. Why to suffer if the person can live happy life somewhere else? And what concerns of economy then using GDP growth as indication of economical development is at best poor instrument. And adding then certain guesses supported by 'some big name economic experts' is making such argument ridiculous.

Comment from a local in Jiangxi, Nanchang on the original article: "公司裁员一半,今年一个大单都接不到,街上商铺倒闭了一半,工资还降了三分之一,我只想知道中国到底怎么了" (Something like this, 'company laid off one half of employees, so far this year not even one big order received, half the stores on the streets closed down, salary reduced by one third, I want to know what's happening to China'). Well, I don't need to wonder about that. Hey CCP, just one case, right? I do wonder how long you can lie. LOL

'that 73% of companies surveyed in China achieved profitability and 75% experienced revenue growth in the past year. 67% of companies surveyed plan to expand investment in China in 2015'. Superficial figures. Compared to previous years what's the ROI and the percentage growth in revenue?

The proof is there in black and white yet China still can't face the truth. Foreign companies want nothing to do with China. How hard is it to understand?

So now I finally understand based on what you selected your nickname. I must say rarely you find a person with such a good ability of self-analysis who on top of that is not ashamed to let the world know ... Thumb up!
