Wuhan University Spends 4 Million Yuan Building Fake Great Wall
Apr 16, 2015 By eChinacities.com

The Wuhan Institute of Biological Engineering recently constructed a large, pricey fake Great Wall on its campus. Sounds classy, and tasteful to me! The Great Wall is 1.6 kilometers long, connects the different sections of the university's campus, and cost the university about 4 million Yuan to build. The wall is modeled on well-known parts of the real Great Wall with different famous passes scattered around campus. The university said that the main goal of building the wall was to improve campus traffic flow. Pedestrians can walk on the wall rather than the roads to help clear up campus traffic. Yes, they definitely built the 4 million Yuan Great Wall for traffic purposes, not for the viral publicity. Sure.

I think instead of wasting money by building fake things.they could provide better dorm facilities to students.most of the universities have poor dorm facilities where students live like animals... great idea for wasting money

When a university in Changsha said that they were going to install air-con's in the student dorms a few years ago, the parents protested so strongly - "this will distract them from their studies" - the university changed its' mind. Can't have students getting anything to make their time more comfortable.

The Great Wall of Badaling is a part in the World Heritage Site list. It is a represention to China, and they are symbolic to each other.Funny ,it is being allowed to be replicated in such a prominant way and to be used for a purpose other than for worshipping. Is this not an act of defamation, if not disrespectful to its own motherland? Would'nt it have stirred up a controvesial issue, have Wuhan not been a part of China? What'd you guys think?

Yet, student needs hot water kettles just to have hot water, and they are 4 to 9 beds per room. Face is everything, your fellow human condition is nothing.

Well, it is a School of Engineering, and the Great Wall is one of the greatest engineering feats in history. Tacky or not, it has some academic merit.
